Mistaken

You were wrong,
When you said our love was gone,
Then, maybe I never mattered,
Much to you.

You were wrong,
To have left me here so long,
Then, maybe you never missed me,
All that much.

I need you to hear me say,
“That today, I’m not OK,”
You were wrong if you thought,
I’m better off without you.

And as I dine alone tonight,
On ash and firelight,
I swirl thoughts around my glass;
That you were wrong.

As I lie in bed alone,
Knowing you’re not coming home,
You were wrong if you thought,
I’d just find someone new.

You were wrong,
You thought you had to stand alone,
But we were so much stronger,
Me and You.

I’m missing you,
And I don’t know what to do,
You think I never cared at all,
You were wrong.

You’re on my mind,
In my heart, all of the time,
You were wrong if you thought,
I ever could forget.

The times we spent,
We were never looking back,
Now, only one answer remains…
You were wrong.
