Postcards From A Friend

Hey there, how are you?
It’s been a long time.
Where have you been, my friend?

I’ve spent my days dreaming,
On a far away shore,
Or maybe just lost in my mind…

I’ve been sending postcards to myself,
From a place I’ve never known,
With the message,
“Wishing you were here with me!

‘Cause I’ve finally found the sun,
And we’re all here having fun.”
And it’s signed, “The man, I wish I could be.”

I’ll keep watching for those postcards from me.

All the pretty, picture places,
And the laughing, smiling faces,
Sent back, to a soul that’s left behind.

In the grey and stormy places,
Where the ghost of memory chases
All my hopes away, but I’ll be OK…

I’m sending postcards to myself,
From a place I’ll find somehow,
And I’ll write back,
“Wishing you were here with me!

‘Cause the sun is warm and bright,
And the stars shine every night,”
And I’ll sign, “The man, I wish I could be.”

‘Til then I’m watching for those postcards from me.
