Sincerity

Sincerity, just a word,
You keep in your pocket.
Somewhere between eternal,
And unfaithfully.

You dust it off,
When you want to play the victim.
Then you bury it again,
Beside your car keys and cigarettes.

Sincerity, not a word,
I take for given.
Like a shiny paper package,
Dressed for the world to see.

Don’t waste your time searching,
For something you can’t see,
There’s nothing here for you…
That isn’t Me.

Sincerity, just a ring,
I keep in my pocket.
That never got to see the light,
Upon your pretty face.

Living down beside,
All my wishes and regrets,
Somewhere between eternity…
And forgottenness.
